Jews In Argentina Essays - Immigration To Israel, Aliyah
Jews In Argentina The Jewish Community of Argentina Argentina is the second largest nation in Lain America and boasts the largest Jewish community in the region (200,000 of its 35 million people). From an open door policy of immigration to the harboring of Nazi war criminals, Argentinas Jews have faced period of peaceful coexistence and periods of intense anti-Semitism. Argentinas Jews have numerous Jewish community organizations. The DIAI (Delegacion de Asociaciones Israelitas Argentinas) was founded in 1939 as the political arm of the Jewish community. The DIAI protects Jewish rights and represents the community in the government. Another organization, the AMIA, an Ashkenazic mutual-aid society, provides health and human services to Argentinas Ashkenazi population. History After the expulsion from Spain in 1492, conversos (or secret Jews) settled in Argentina. Most of these immigrants assimilated into the general population and, by the mid 1800's, few Jews were left in Argentina. Argentina gained its independence from Spain in 1810. Bernardino Rivadavia, Argentinas first president, gave support to policies that promoted freedom of immigration and respect for human rights. In this atmosphere of tolerance, a second wave of Jewish immigration began in the mid-19th century with Jewish immigrants arriving from Western Europe, especially from France. In 1860, the first Jewish wedding was recorded in Buenos Aires. A couple of years later, a minyan met for the High Holiday services and, eventually, the minyan became the Congregacion Israelita de la Republica. In the late 19th century, a third wave of immigration fleeing poverty and pogroms in Russia, and other Eastern Europe countries, moved to Argentina because of its open door policy of immigration. These Jews became known as Rusos and became active in Argentine society. In 1889, 824 Russian Jews arrived in Argentina on the SS Weser and became gauchos (Argentine cowboys). The gauchos bought land and established a colony, which they named Moiseville. Due to lack of funding, the gauchos appealed to Baron Maurice de Hirsch for funds and the Baron subsequently founded the Jewish Colonization Association. During its heyday, the Association owned more than 600,000 hectares of land, populated by more than 200,000 Jews. While non-Jews now own many of these cooperative ranches, Jews continue to run some of the properties. Between 1906 and 1912, Jewish immigration increased at a rate of 13,000 immigrants per year. Most of the immigrants were Ashkenazi Jews from Europe, but a number of Sephardic Jews from Morocco and the Ottoman Empire also settled in Argentina. By 1920, more than 150,000 Jews were living in Argentina. Anti-Semitic attacks against Jews were infrequent in Argentina before World War I. Following the Russian Revolution, between 1918 and 1930, anti-revolutionary feelings developed into full-blown anti-Semitism against the Rusos. From January 7-13, 1919, a general strike in Buenos Aires led to a pogrom against the Jews. Many were beaten and had their property burned and looted.i Despite anti-Semitic actions against the Jews and increasing xenophobia, Jews became involved in most sectors of Argentine society. Still they were unable to be work in the government or military and so many became farmers, peddlers, artisans and shopkeepers. Cultural and religious organizations flourished and a Yiddish press and theater opened in Buenos Aires, as well as a Jewish hospital and a number of Zionist organizations. Post World War II Juan Perons rise to power in 1946 worried many Jews because he was thought to be a Nazi sympathizer with fascist leanings. Peron halted Jewish immigration to Argentina, introduced Catholic religious instruction in public schools and allowed Argentina to become a haven for fleeing Nazis. According to Argentine journalist and historian Jorge Camarasa, author of two books on Nazi refugees in South America, There are indications that Peron received Nazi Funds and access to secret Swiss accounts in payment for allowing people like Eichmann a new start. Many former Nazi officers served as military trainers and advisers under Peron. On the other hand, Peron also expressed sympathy for Jewish rights and established diplomatic relations with Israel in 1949. Since then, more than 45,000 Jews have immigrated to Israel from Argentina.i Peron was overthrown in 1955, which was followed by another wave of anti-Semitism. In 1960, Israeli agents abducted Adolf Eichmann who was deeply involved with the formulation and operation of the final solution to the Jewish question.

Black Daeth essays
Black Daeth essays The Black Death was a plague that carried a disease that ravaged its way through the world, eventually causing economic, political, and cultural disruptions. It came like a murderer in the night, when no one was expecting it. This mysterious disease first attacked the people living near the Black Sea in what is now called Southern Ukraine. It came without mercy, like a warrior coming for revenge. It struck, and within days hundreds of people fell ill. The first symptoms were severe headaches and redness of the eyes. These were followed by inflammations of the tongue, hoarseness and a hacking cough. Then came severe intestinal upsets, including vomiting and acute diarrhea. Temperatures rose, and at the fevers height the body broke out with reddish spots. By the third day, the lymph nodes in the sufferers'' groins, neck, and occasionally the armpits began to swell. Eventually the swelling would increase from the size of a hazelnut to the size of walnut, then to the size of a hen's egg. The swelling would bulge out making it easily visible; its blackish color giving the disease its name: The Black Death. The swellings would continue to get bigger and extremely painful causing the victim to vomit blood. Eventually the swelling would burst, and the victim would die soon after. The whole process, starting from the first symptoms to the final expiration would last as little as 3 days to as long as 9 days. It was a terrible and excruciating disease that was given the title of the Bubonic Plague, a medical term. The swelling that the victims received became known as buboes, the Greek word for groin, boubon. Therefore giving the disease its official name: the Bubonic Plague. There were three forms of the plague: Bubonic, Septicaemic, and pneumonic. The Bubonic plague was the main disease that tormented the people of the Black Sea region, but there was another dise...

The Best Way to Run a Creative Ideation Workshop
The Best Way to Run a Creative Ideation Workshop Every business, product, project, campaign, blog post, and plan starts with an idea. Bringing an idea to life can be a long and challenging process. But arriving at a good idea can be a challenge as well. You could brainstorm 100 ideas and find that none of them seem worth pursuing. Or you could arrive at a handful of good ideas, only to be faced with the difficulty of choosing which idea to pour your time and resources into. The aim of a creative ideation workshop is to optimize the brainstorming process. The problem is, if your ideation workshop isnââ¬â¢t focused and structured, you can end up wasting a lot of time. Thatââ¬â¢s where this guide will help you. After youââ¬â¢ve read and implemented all the strategies in this post, sign up for a free trial. Itââ¬â¢s the best way to plan and manage all your projects. From project to-dos, workflow planning, and team management, itââ¬â¢s got all the features you need to make your projects feel like organized heavenâ⬠¦ But Firstâ⬠¦ Download These Creative Brief Templates A creative brief is a great way to get everyone on the same page before any new project takes off. Steal one of these templates to make the process as easy as can be.Identify the Goal of Your Workshop Thereââ¬â¢s no such thing as a bad idea, right? Iââ¬â¢ll leave that one up to you. But there are definitely ideas that arenââ¬â¢t relevant enough to be prioritized. In order to come up with relevant, viable ideas, you need to identify a clear goal from the get-go. Specifically, you should identify a particular metric or product feature you want to impact. The first step of any creative workshop is to identify the goal. For example, say you wanted to do a blog content ideation session. Rather than simply ask, ââ¬Å"What are some new topics for blog content we can do?â⬠hone in on a more specific goal. Your goal could be something like ââ¬Å"to increase conversions on this particular landing pageâ⬠or ââ¬Å"to get more people to use this feature of our product.â⬠Having a specific metric you want to impactà will help you come up with focused ideas. This will also help you eliminate (or backlog) any ideas that donââ¬â¢t directly impact that metric. If youââ¬â¢d like a more detailed guide to identifying key metrics, check out this growth strategy guide. Now letââ¬â¢s talk about the dream team youââ¬â¢ll need to assemble for your creative ideation workshop. Pick the Right People For Your Workshop Time to assemble your dream team. GIF Source To gather the best ideas, make sure you have the right people participating in your workshop. Generally speaking, itââ¬â¢s helpful to have a group of people with varied perspectives participating. Think: who on your team knows the most about the metric you want to impact? Who has worked on similar projects in the past? Who might be able to offer an important perspective? Get Multiple Perspectives Returning to the blog content brainstorming example, you would certainly want to include members from your content team. But depending on the metric you want to impact, you may also want to include a member or two from another team. For example, say you were brainstorming content ideas with the goal of promoting a new product feature. It could be useful to include a member of your customer support team in the workshop. They interact with your customers on a daily basis and will know first-hand what kinds of problems they face. Or say your goal is to brainstorm a new product feature. Not only would you want engineers in the workshop, but also someone from customer support to help you identify customer problems. Or someone from your Marketing team, who would be familiar with your competitors and be able to identify differentiators. Use a Structured Ideation Technique If you want to maximize your time and effort in your creative ideation workshop, you need to follow a structured approach. Thatââ¬â¢s why you should create a framework to ideate, narrow down and prioritize ideas. A quick search will yield hundreds of different ideation techniquesà you could use. The key is to use a framework that allows your team to come up with a pool of focused ideas, which you can then narrow down to select the best contenders. Here are some tried and true ideation techniques you can use. Across all of these ideation techniques, itââ¬â¢s a good idea to give your team some homework prior to the workshop. Every participant should come to the workshop equipped with some knowledge of the problem so that their ideas will be informed. All of these ideation techniques will require a facilitator to be appointed. Theyââ¬â¢ll be in charge of leading the workshop and making decisions about which ideas to prioritize. Idea Sprint (from the book Sprint) This the method is very effective. Itââ¬â¢s typically used for both product and marketing ideation. This method was adapted from the Google Design Sprint outlined in the book Sprint, which takes place over five days. We condensed the framework down to aà shorter version that can be completed in a 1-2 hour creative ideation workshop. Step 1: Intro (15 minutes)à Communicate any key information participants should know before they dive in. For example, if youââ¬â¢re doing a product ideation workshop, then you will need to share your product vision. There may also be specific user pain points you want to address, a particular challenge you want to overcome, or any requirements the final solution must contain. You may also want to offer some examples of competitorsââ¬â¢ solutions. Discuss the strengths and weaknesses they present. Step 2: Crazy 8ââ¬â¢s (10 - 20 minutes)à Crazy 8ââ¬â¢s is a fast sketching exercise that challenges each member to sketch 8 distinct ideas in 8 minutes (roughly 1 idea per minute, unless you want to a lot more time). The goal is to push participants to come up with a wide variety of ideas. Each participant should take a piece of paper and fold it into 8 sections. Instruct them to sketch one idea in the first rectangle. When the time sounds, tell them to move on to sketching a new idea in the second rectangle, and so on. Hereââ¬â¢s a template you can use: Use This Template Step 3: Storyboarding (20 minutes)à Instruct each participant to take the best idea from their Crazy 8ââ¬â¢s session and create a thorough solution sketch in storyboard form (305 screens with annotations). They should explain how the solution directly addresses the goal of the ideation workshop. These donââ¬â¢t have to be beautiful but they should be coherent and easy to understand. Step 4: Dot Voting (10 - 20 minutes)à This step follows a heat map-style approach to review solutions. Every participant should be given dot stickers. Let the participants walk around and vote for which features of a solution, or which solutions in their entirety, they like by placing the do stickers beside them. Popular solutions and features will become apparent when they have multiple dots clustered around them. Step 5: Summarize Voting and Discuss as a Group (10 -15 à minutes)à Group any similar solutions. Then, allow participants to explain and promote any solution that couldnââ¬â¢t be adequately explained in a sketch. After the Sprint:à Once the sprint is over, itââ¬â¢s time to pick and prioritize. The ideation workshop facilitator and/or project manager should decide which ideas are worth testing. [Tweet "The best step-by-step process for running an idea sprint." #marketing] Rapid Ideation The aim of this framework is to come up with as many unfiltered ideas as you can, without fear of judgment. Then, you can narrow it down from there. Step 1: (5-10 minutes) First, go over what the goal of your ideation session will be and who your main audience is. Step 2: (10-20 minutes)à Discuss the scope and parameters of your project. What timeframe will you be working in? Whatââ¬â¢s the budget? This will help you Step 3: (30-40 minutes)à Have each participant individually brainstorm ideas. Set a goal of approximately an idea a minute, to encourage them to think quickly and freely. Step 4 (20 minutes)à Ask participants to pick their top 3-5 ideas and present them to the team. Then, eliminate the ideas that arenââ¬â¢t viable or relevant enough. Once youââ¬â¢ve picked the idea (or few ideas) you want to prioritize, you can further flesh them out. Starbursting Starbursting is a creative ideation technique that spurs participants to ask questions, rather than trying to come up with instant solutions. This can be an effective approach when youââ¬â¢re trying to prioritize a new project, product feature, or content strategy. Start by drawing a 6-point star and write the questions Who,à What,à Where,à When,à Why andà Howà at the tip of each point. In the center of the star, write the metric you want to impact.

Transition of the patient that is discharged after a surgery and Research Paper
Transition of the patient that is discharged after a surgery and challenges they will face at home - Research Paper Example My role as a nurse involves the management of care after discharge in order to enhance the healing process of the patient. Particularly, this will entail the dissemination of the right kind of information necessary to enhance the healing process o the patient. The home environment can be regulated in a manner that fosters the healing process. Without such regulation, it could turn potentially dangerous to the patient. This process of management involves an acknowledgement of the deficiencies of the home environment and the need to manage the discharge process and the intervening period in ways that add value to the healing process. For Ms Mââ¬â¢s condition, these conditions revolve empowering her with sufficient knowledge to enable her to manage aspects of her own recovery. It will also involve the process of empowering the family members with the right kind of information that will be necessary in the provision of family support in the course of her healing process. The intervent ion also considered matters related to diet, which forms part of the key requirements of her quick recovery. Experience of transition to home After her discharge, Ms M will undergo healing in an environment of solitude. She is a widow and stays alone as her children mother and sisters live in different places. Her husband died of graft vs host disease after undergoing a transplant. Although she receives occasional support from her visiting children, she requires constant watch and help in order to protect her from strenuous physical activity. Although she lives separately from her mother and the rest of the family, Ms M enjoys close correspondence and contact with all of them. This support would constitute significant positive force to aid in the healing process. Except for her mother, other members of the family demonstrate strength and understanding of her condition. Her son shows up occasionally to assist her with menial tasks around the home. Ms M deliberately shields her mother from the truth of her health condition fearing that she might panic. Nevertheless, she demonstrates remarkable courage and enthusiasm, which are essential in the healing process. One challenge is that the family members available to assist her may not have the necessary information and expertise of handling Ms M in her present condition. While at the hospital, Ms M was under the care of competent medical personnel. Furthermore, her diet received proper regulated and her eating monitored. The hospital environment was generally conducive for her healing process to take place. However, this schedule changed after discharge. She had to fend for herself and live her life away from the guidance and monitoring of trained professionals. It is in line with the realization of the attendant challenges that a follow-up program became necessary. The overarching intention to create conditions and an environment of support and the provision of necessary support for faster healing in recognition o f the unique challenges and difficulties, which Ms M faces. Patientââ¬â¢s episodic health needs The patient Ms M was diagnosed with Right renal artery stenosis, right femoral false aneurysm, severe disease in her superficial femoral arteries. This condition necessitated a surgical procedure on the Right Axillo femoral bypass and repair femoral false aneurysm. In the past the patient suffered from hypertension,

Gardner's Multiple-Intelligences Theory Research Paper
Gardner's Multiple-Intelligences Theory - Research Paper Example The theory identifies nine fundamental traits of intelligence, namely spatial, mathematical, kinesthetic, linguistic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, existential and naturalistic intelligence. (Smith, 2002, 2008). Gardner never claimed that the traits of intelligence are limited to the ones he identified. Brief explanation of these types of intelligence is as follows: Spatial intelligence is concerned with the imagination. Artists are typically equipped with such an intelligence. Linguistic intelligence makes it easy for an individual to memorize difficult vocabulary and interpret thoughts into words. People with technical accuracy of thoughts have mathematical intelligence. They are good at calculations. People with quick physical reflexes have a high kinesthetic intelligence. They are good at tasks requiring physical exercises. Some people compose very good songs and have a nice taste for music and hence excel in this field. They are equipped with sufficiently high musical intelligence. People with good interpersonal intelligence level are social and have management skills. Their social circle is large. Others who are introverts have a sound understanding of their own self and have inclination towards philosophy. They have a high intrapersonal intelligence level. People who stay close to nature and appreciate it have a goof level of naturalisti c intelligence. Existential intelligence allows an individual to comprehend and interpret infinity. The Multiple-Intelligences Theory has acquired mixed reviews of the philosophers and educationalists. Although the theory has not met with great success, there are many who acknowledge the theory proposed by Gardner as presenting the matter in a broader spectrum. The approach adopted by Gardner, is indeed realistic and mature in that it identifies nearly all traits of intelligence and explains why, some people with a high IQ are not good at performing certain tasks that their counterparts with lower

Fatherhood and the Unmarried Adolescent African-American Male Essay
Just about a quarter of all children are now born out of wedlock.... Add to that the substantial fraction of children born into marriages that will not survive.... What do these high rates of marital instability imply for patterns of childbearing, and especially for fathersââ¬â¢ involvement with their children? (Furstenberg & Harris, 1992, p. 199) The vast amount of research on the topic of adolescent pregnancies has historically focused on the female (such as Furstenberg, 1976 and Stack, 1974). Social scientists have tried to understand the problem and also help the adolescent mother following her decision to give birth to a child. In some places, such as Oakland, California, 73% of adolescents giving birth are African American (Smith, 1988, p.269; Massey, 1991, p. 117). With this in mind, social workers have spent most of their efforts helping adolescent African-American women. The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and Aid to Families of Dependent Children (AFDC) offer help for many women and their children. Unfortunately, the social workers usually ââ¬Å"viewed Black adolescent fathers either as a cause of the problem of adolescent parenthood or as a partial solution in their assigned role of financial providerâ⬠(Smith, 1988, p. 269). Introductory quote focuses on an important public conversation about children born out of wedlock and fathers' involvement with their children. Furtstenburg is considered an expert on the topic of pregnancy among adolescents and the changing American family. The writer further identifies the context for the research as the social sciences and suggests how this research has influenced social workers. Bc607- Assignment 1.1: Dialogue 1 Essay
I conducted a brief analysis on Kraft Foods and Hansenââ¬â¢s Natural, to compare and evaluate the ways in which the concept of globalization has made an impact in their individual tactics globally. Kraft Foods and Hansenââ¬â¢s Natural are two similar corporations with dissimilar ways of operations. They operate differently in structure, accessibility, size, strategy, and international marketing. They both share the similarity of working in the food industry. Hansenââ¬â¢s goods are not as broad as Kraft Foodââ¬â¢s. Their products are restricted to the beverage sector, while Kraft Foodââ¬â¢s products are featured in both beverages and food sectors. Therefore, Hansenââ¬â¢s has not been as dominant as Kraft Foods internationally. Kraft Foods is a renowned American confectionery, food and beverage, independent public company. It markets many brands in more than 155 countries where 40 of the brands are at least a century old and 12 of the brands, annually, profit over a billion dollars worldwide. Kraft Foods employs 140,000 diverse employees; conversely their website depicts the notion of their inspiration to be the consumer. Their website states ââ¬Å"Consumers Inspire Us. â⬠The company upholds a solid market position in the United States while simultaneously making lucrative strides in Europe. Due to the fact that Kraft Foods has 49% of its market share in North America and the remaining 51% in Europe and other areas, they are able to use such diversity to their advantage. Kraft advertises as an international company and has websites in various languages to compensate an extensive selection of market, while keeping everything is simple. They employ the internet to persistently use online surveys and other PR approaches for public feedback analysis to further identify consumer concerns in regards to foods and beverages. Kraft Foods is a leader in viable expansion as they endorse sustainable farm work on ecological policy, environmental change and animal well-being. In recent news, I read that Kraft is talking with Apple regarding an application on the I-Phone, which provides digital assistance from Kraft so that, while grocery shopping, customers can access recipes that list necessary ingredients from Kraft as well as other great food ideas. The I-Phone is enormous globally, so this alone has put Kraft even further ahead of their competition. Kraft even has implemented its on system of checks and balances for quality control which can differ from one country to another for everything such as tastes, textures, elements, and nutrients but overall quality is standardized. Hansenââ¬â¢s Natural Inc. was established in Southern California in 1985. The mission of Hansen Beverage Company is to satisfy consumersââ¬â¢ needs for superior quality and great tasting, healthy, natural and functional beverages. Hansenââ¬â¢s is known for their various alliances with Coca Cola and Anheiser Bush has landed their companyââ¬â¢s global distribution into Canada, Mexico, and Western Europe. Hansenââ¬â¢s relies on its partnership with the distributors to deal with globalization for their company. Till present day, Hansenââ¬â¢s Natural is a local company. They donââ¬â¢t actively participate in global enhancing projects and they are slightly involved in global marketing and world trade; however the company strives towards constant development and growth. Hansenââ¬â¢s Natural has modified their natural products to many other types of drinks, including the energy drink, ââ¬Å"Monster. â⬠Awkwardly, the energy drinks are questionable as a ââ¬Å"naturalâ⬠product. Hansenââ¬â¢s edge through focusing within the specific market of beverages gives them a more concentrated and direct method to servicing the world. This enables their buyers to find them through increased activity in the extreme sports world. Hansenââ¬â¢s Naturalââ¬â¢s launch of the energy drink, Monster has helped boost their company sales globally. In conclusion, it is clear that when comparing globalization within small and large corporations the one major difference between the two corporate philosophies is specialization vs. broad range appeal. Kraft Foods & Hansenââ¬â¢s both appear to encourage and place emphasis on their relationship with their consumers. It is significant that both companies are successful globally because of their status as a small or large company. Both companies are successful in how they progress with technology advancing while never overlooking the consumer. Hence each company is raising the opinion that their corporate culture is driven by the customer need wherever they conduct their business. In reference to the globalization theory, Hansenââ¬â¢s Natural has prospered in marketing its products in the global market because they donââ¬â¢t have a great deal of socio-economic or political resources. In reference to the globalization theory Kraft uses viable development to assist in shaping its complete affiliation to the global market.
